High Cholesterol? High Blood Pressure? Pre-Diabetes? Diabetes Type 2? Fatty Liver and/or chronic kidney disease?
Did you know that the root cause for most of the above is being significantly overweight for height and poor eating and lifestyle behaviors? Even taking too many medications can play a role. Some medications are just covering up the downstream effects of poor diet and lifestyles. They will not cure or get to the root of the actual problem.
Best Plan – get to the root of the problem. Individualized diet changes based on a change in eating behaviors, individualized exercise and weight loss will get to the root of the problem! Shoot for a realistic weight goal and that can make all the difference!
Find a supervised program with licensed health care professionals that will help you individualize your new path to good health.
Let this year be the year that you start taking the necessary steps toward a healthier you.
The best way to prevent or stop progression of chronic diseases such as diabetes type 2, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, obesity and even most sleep apnea, is through changes in diet, lifestyle changes, exercise and yes, weight loss. This should be the first step, or in addition to any medication that you are prescribed by your health care provider.
As a Registered Dietitian, a health, and life coach, I know from years of working with patients/clients that no massive amount of “health food” supplements, are going to fix your health issues. I also know that many people are relying too heavily on medications for chronic diseases and that diet changes that are based on behavioral changes, lifestyle changes, individualized exercise and weight loss can help best.
I will work with you on an individualized meal plan and make it more about behavioral changes then quote “a diet.” I will help you take control of your approach to weight loss. We will work together on other individualized behavioral changes that can lead you down a new path of good health.
The best program is a medically supervised program with a registered dietitian and a health care provider/prescriber that can work with you on your individualized plan. Get accountability through weekly or monthly health visits, weigh-ins on a professional grade scale that does an analysis on your body composition and tracks your progress, and measurements with a credentialed health care provider. Get continued education, reinforcement and support for your specific Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) needs by working with a Registered Dietitian and health care provider. Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) is covered by most insurance and you typically do not need a referral.
